Located in Evanston’s historic district, this 1902 home required a complete interior renovation without altering the exterior beyond repair or preservation. With respect for the home’s traditional style, we chose timeless materials. With an eye toward modern living, we developed a new floor plan, mechanical systems, windows, waterproofing and insulation. In the back of the house, we transformed a series of small rooms into one large kitchen. In the basement, we waterproofed and dug out the space to create higher ceilings. The upper floors went from a maze of small bedrooms and baths to larger bedrooms, each with a beautifully detailed bathroom and closet. Our intention is that this home graces Evanston’s historic fabric for another hundred years.
