This Lincoln Park home required conversion of an old addition into a new kitchen. We gutted and reconfigured the space, connecting it to the outdoors. A new door and windows frame views of the garden and deck, which we designed and added to the house. We chose a simple palette with a casual, modern look to fit the aesthetic of the home’s furnishings. To maximize storage, small appliances are hidden behind soft blue glass panels, which slide up vertically to keep the kitchen functional and clean-lined. A butcher-block island, built-in wood shelves, and a plywood countertop edge introduce elements of warmth. We designed the eat-in table to match the counters, while a banquette fits extra seating in a tight space and creates a multi-functional area for gathering or working on a laptop.
