Located in a sleepy town in Idaho with a dramatic view of the Teton Range, a modern house that speaks to the vernacular of the Mountain West.
This vacation home enjoys a wonderful sense of place – with a metal roof and vertical cedar walls, the architecture feels at home in the Idaho mountain context. With the Tetons as a backdrop, a pitched roof offers a nod to the regional vocabulary. The front façade marries the mountain vernacular with a modern flat roof and glass wall gesture. Balance weaves itself through all aspects of the design, sometimes with the resolve found in symmetry and sometimes in the serenity of a thoughtful detail. This western retreat is quiet in its presentation – familiar, warm, welcoming, yet powerful and architectural.
