Lake Forest Showhouse

The girl’s bedroom and bath in this grand home allowed our firm to infuse our ongoing inspiration from nature and passion for craftsmanship into a space that embraces both playfulness and femininity. The layout of the space has an inherent balance due to the relationship between the fireplace and the size of the room. We played with the design until it felt natural and then focused on bringing soul and warmth into the room.

Although the bedroom has limited views of the outdoors, we were able to bring nature’s artistry into the space as a subtle theme that can be found in the selection of materials and furnishings. Early on, we sourced pink stone and two sculptural tree lights that provided the initial inspiration and acted as catalysts for many of the design decisions. Within this playful space, we wanted to combine soft and modern expressions of the natural world and the artistry of craftsmanship.

Vintage, hand-crafted Murano glass flower pendants and custom furniture take center stage and reflect our love for found, vintage, and handcrafted pieces in which you can feel the hand of the artist. We added other unique touches, such as plaster flowers and vines on the fireplace. We then layered in a soft palette of pinks and neutrals with fabrics, drapery, rug and wallcoverings. The result is a timeless expression of sophistication—a dream room for a little girl.
